After two years as a graduate assistant for North Park Sports Information and Gameday Management, Craig Shelton has been promoted to Assistant Sports Information Director. Shelton enters the role as the program's first-ever full-time assistant in 2025.

In his first year with the Vikings (2023-24), Shelton covered nearly every sport at North Park. He specifically was one of the primary statisticians for NPU Football and the Men's and Women's Basketball teams. He provided press coverage for Football and both basketball teams this past 2024-25 academic year and served as the primary gameday contact for numerous home events.

"Craig made a great transition from student-athlete to support staff in his first year with North Park and I'm excited to watch him have the same success moving from the graduate assistant role to the full-time position," said Tyler Woolbright, NPU's Assistant Director of Athletics. "His lifelong background in athletics and dedication to North Park these past two years gives me plenty of confidence in his ability to promote our Vikings at the highest level."

Shelton was a four-year letter winner playing football at Augustana College. His junior year, Shelton led the team with 7 touchdowns and was second in receptions and receiving yards. This was followed by a strong senior season, receiving 5 touchdowns while again being second in receiving yards and receptions.

Before attending Augustana College, Shelton attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, in Oak Park, Illinois, where he was a three-year letter winner for football and one letter for basketball.  He was named All West Suburban Conference two out of his three years in football.

Shelton graduated from Augustana College in 2023 with a degree in Business Administration Management and received his master's from North Park in 2025.

"I am super excited and grateful to be coming back to North Park after finishing my master's degree," said Shelton. "I love the work that I do and I cannot wait to continue to learn and grow professionally with the amazing staff I have already become familiar with.  Thankful doesn't begin to describe how I feel about North Park giving me the chance to continue to build my career. I can't wait to get back!"
