The 2025-26 season will be the sixth as head track and field coach and third at the helm of the cross country programs for Bisrat Kidane. Kidane was promoted to Director of Track & Field and Cross Country in the summer of 2023.
Kidane coached Jereme Ombogo, Thea Ring, and Riana Hayes to the national championships, adding a few more All-Americans to the NPU record books.
During the 2022-23 season Kidane guided Clark Fremouw (Discus) and Jereme Ombogo (200m) to United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Midwest honors. Additionally, Kidane coached Ombogo all the way to the 2023 NCAA Championships, earning the CCIW Indoor and Outdoor 200-meter titles while establishing multiple program records along the way.
Kidane is familiar with the Chicago area, spending the past few seasons coaching at his alma mater, Judson University, located in Elgin, Illinois. While coaching for the Eagles, Kidane specialized in recruiting and also served as the Assistant Director of Admissions. Prior to Judson, Kidane was the Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Eureka College.
Kidane graduated from Judson in 2013 with a degree in business administration, double majoring in marketing and management. He also earned his Master of Business Administration in strategic leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in 2016. A student-athlete at Judson, Kidane was named captain of the track & field team.
