North Park University Athletics

Karl Soderstrom completed his 11th season leading North Park Tennis in 2025, securing the program's first-ever title in the Fall of 2024.

The 2024 spring squad saw the program reach new heights, exploding to 16 wins and a third-place finish in the CCIW race. The Vikings earned their first ever win in a CCIW playoff match, won their first semifinals match, and qualified for the league's tournament championship. North Park also had its first program win over Wheaton College in that semifinals match.

The 2022-23 season was one of the most impressive for Vikings Tennis, as the program finished with seven wins, including a winning record of 7-5 in the fall. Soderstrom's squad improved on that the following fall by setting program records in wins (9) and CCIW record (6-2). The Vikings lost just two matches in the 2023 Fall Season and, for the first time ever, saw two members named to the All-CCIW team.

He previously coached the North Park women’s tennis team in the mid-1990’s and also played tennis for the Viking men’s team as an undergraduate student.
