Cordell Henry

Henry enters his fourth season with the Vikings men’s basketball team. Seven years ago, he returned to the United States and joined his alma mater, Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago, as an assistant coach and personal trainer. Prior to coaching at Whitney Young, he spent nine years playing professional basketball for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). A standout point guard for FIBA, Henry made his mark in several countries, including France, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Portugal where his team won back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008.

Henry was a star player at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI from 1998 to 2002 and is currently one of the top 25 all-time scoring leaders for the Golden Eagles. He was also a college teammate of current NBA superstar Dwyane Wade. While at Marquette, the Golden Eagles won the 2001 Great Alaska Shootout and made an appearance in the 2002 NCAA tournament. After graduating from Marquette with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, he spent time with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzles and Milwaukee Bucks. Along with a wealth of basketball knowledge and cultural experiences, Henry brings to North Park great enthusiasm and excitement about working with North Park students on and off the court.
