Wes Welnack

Wes Welnack joined the North Park University coaching staff in 2022.  For the 2022 season, Welnack will be coaching the Viking offensive line.

Welnack comes to the staff after serving in a multitude of roles for Millikin University, including coaching the running backs, tight ends, offensive line, wide receivers, & defensive line. Along with carrying Special Teams Coordinator and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator titles during his tenure.

During his time with Millikin, Welnack mentored All-CCIW selections Alex Vogt & Quinton Miller. Before Millikin, Welnack was the Run Game Coordinator & Offensive Line Coach at Moorpark College. While at Moorpark College, Welnack produced five All-Conference members along with helping a number of student-athletes sign with four-year institutions including Brian Woodard (Western Illinois University), Caleb White (Lindenwood University), Cory Price (Truman State University), Trevor Martens (Rocky Mountain College), along with many others outside his position group. Previous to Moorpark College, Welnack served as the Special Teams Coordinator while coaching wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends at Illinois College. During his tenure at Illinois College, Welnack produced three Midwest All-Conference members (Austin Ellsworth '16, Jason Barbour '16, & Greg Cross '17). As a Special Teams Coordinator, Welnack produced the best Punt Return unit in the Midwest Conference during the 2017-2018 season that ranked 16th nationally. Furthermore, the Illinois College Special Team units set multiple school records including the longest punt return, most created turnovers, and longest field goal. Prior to Illinois College, Welnack was the Tight Ends Coach at Cal Lutheran University where he produced two SCIAC All-Conference members (Alex Moise '15 & Conner Allen '15).

Welnack earned his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of North Texas with a Major in Kinesiology and a Minor in Psychology. Welnack received his Masters from the University of Missouri specializing in Education, Psychology, & Counseling.
