Avery Hawkins

Hawkins begins his second season as the Vikings receivers coach. Prior to North Park, Hawkins served as the assistant wide receivers coach and offensive quality control at the University of Cincinnati. There he charted play calling and recognized defensive coverages during gameplay and assisted with scouting and football administration while helping lead the Bearcats to a Big East championship and a berth in the Belk Bowl where they defeated the Duke Blue Devils 48-34 December 27, 2012. As a two-year head coach of the Johnstown Generals of the United Indoor Football League prior to the University of Cincinnati, Hawkins coached a pair of defensive backs that earned All-League First Team honors and led the league in interceptions. He first started his coaching career in August of 2007 as a student assistant at California University of Pennsylvania where his primary duties included recruiting new prospects and drilling defensive backs with defensive position specific techniques among other tasks. As a member of the California coaching staff, Hawkins helped lead the team to three-straight PSAC conference titles from 2007-09 and he coached current NFL cornerback Terrence Johnson, who is a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
