CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park women's tennis team opened the 2026 season in impressive fashion on Saturday, defeating Illinois Tech 7-0 in a dominant all-around performance.
The Vikings secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Alexandra Pugachova and Tyra Olsson led the way with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Nova Mickelsson and Jessica Dudas earned a convincing 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles to give North Park the early 1-0 advantage.
North Park carried that momentum into singles play, claiming all six matches in straight sets.
Pugachova set the tone at the top of the lineup with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Katharina Schuler followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2, and Olsson earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 3.
Dudas continued the Vikings' strong showing with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles before Thea Gifvars battled to a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 5. Diamantidis capped the sweep at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph.
