CHICAGO, Ill. -- After finding the back of the net three times in a pair of North Park Men's Soccer wins last week, freshman forward Gustav Finér enjoyed his first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week accolade on Tuesday morning.
Finér, who made his way to Chicago this year via Uppsala, Sweden, has been on a tear recently, scoring five times in his past four games. Last week, he began the week by scoring both Viking goals in a 2-1 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater on September 23 before marking the second score-leveling goal in the Vikings' CCIW opener against Wheaton on September 26.
In his past five games, the freshman forward is credited with 17 shots, including 11 on goal, alongside scoring in four consecutive contests.
Finér is one of only five players in the conference to score 5+ goals and he's one of 10 players, alongside teammate Carson Belcher, with double-digit shots on goal (11).
North Park (6-1-2, 1-0) has one more regular season non-conference game, hosting UW-Plateville on Wednesday, September 30. Kickoff at Holmgren is set for 7:00 PM.
