Skoglund named CCIW's Defensive Player of the Week

The sophomore keeper enjoyed 3 shutouts and 11 saves last week

CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park men's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Arvid Skoglund stopped all 11 shots he saw last week, earning three shutouts in goal and College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday morning.

Skoglund, who made his way to North Park via Göteborg, Sweden, began his week by enjoying a 2-0 shutout home win against Milwaukee School of Engineering, saving the only shot that made it his way. Next, Skoglund grabbed two more shutouts in consecutive days as the Vikings snagged a 1-0 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday before playing Pacific Lutheran to a scoreless draw. He saved 10 shots across the neutral site games hosted by Wheaton; four against CMS and six against PLU.

Skoglund is one of just two keepers in the CCIW with multiple shutouts on the season and he's the lone player with three across just five games played. He has not allowed a goal in his past four starts, saving 13 shots while allowing only one goal.

This is the first weekly honor of Skoglund's career and he becomes the first North Park student-athlete to pick up a weekly award from the league office for the 2026-27 school year.
