GLENDALE, Wis. -- The North Park University women's tennis team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season on Wednesday evening, earning a 6-1 road victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering.
North Park set the tone early in doubles play, securing two victories to claim the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Alexandra Pugachova and Thea Gifvars earned a 6-3 win. At the No. 2 position, Emilia Sand and Jessica Dudas dominated from the outset, closing out a decisive 6-1 victory to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.
The Vikings quickly expanded their advantage in singles, showcasing depth across the lineup. Pugachova continued her standout evening at No. 1 singles, racing to a straight-set win with a strong 6-0, 6-1 performance. Sand followed suit at the No. 2 spot, not dropping a game in a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory.
At No. 3 singles, Gifvars controlled the tempo throughout, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Dudas added another point for the Vikings at No. 4 singles with a composed 6-0, 6-1 decision.
One of the most competitive matches of the night came at No. 5 singles, where Holly Chleboun battled through a tightly contested second set. After taking the opening set 6-2, Chleboun prevailed in a close 7-6 second-set tiebreak to clinch the victory and seal North Park's sixth point of the match.
