Game Recap: Women's Flag Football | | Craig Shelton

Vikings fall to Sabres

Chicago, Il., -- North Park Flag Football (0-3) played host to the Marian University Sabres (0-1) this evening, as both teams looked to secure their first win of the season.  The Vikings struck first early in the first quarter, capping off a long drive with a touchdown from running back Tilda Karlsson as she got the edge on the Sabre defense.  Marian's offense responded with a score of their own as quarterback Holly Goodwin connected with Kendall Graves for the Sabres' first score; after the failed two-point attempt, the Vikings led 7-6.

From there the Viking offense struggled to find the endzone despite having some opportunities.  Marian was able to find another score when Goodwin and Graves notched their second touchdown of the day, taking the halftime lead 13-7 after a successful extra point.

Marian stayed in control the rest of the way, creating turnovers, converting on offense, and stretching their lead to double digits.  Running back Daniela Chaname was active for the Sabres with 59 total yards and a touchdown while Graves had 5 catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns leading the way for Marian.  For the Vikings, Madison Slaton and Jayla Robinson had solid performances with Slaton hauling in 3 catches for 52 yards, along with an interception and a pass break up defensively, while Robinson had 4 catches for 48 yards.

The Vikings would go on to lose 31-9 falling to 0-4 on the season, but have a chance to bounce back this weekend when they travel to face Illinois College on Saturday, March 21st.  Kickoff is set for 2pm.
