Chicago, Il., -- As the season inches closer and closer to its end, the Vikings hosted the red hot #15 Carroll University Pioneers. The Pioneers came into tonight on a 10-game win streak and would extend it to 11 after tonight's 64-42 win over the Vikings.
North Park was in the mix for the entirety of the game, holding early leads and staying within reach of Carroll to potentially mount a comeback. The Vikings kept their rotations tight, playing only six players, but were led by Caroline Long's 14 point, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists; with those 5 assists tying her career high. Teresa Morrissey provided a spark off the bench when she knocked down back-to-back three pointers to close out the second half to send the Vikings into halftime down 25-22.
However the Pioneers leaned heavily on their three-time CCIW Player of the Week winner Natalie Gricius, as she finished tonight's game with 31 points on 13-23 from the field. Late in the fourth Carroll went on a huge 21-4 run to close out the game and extend their lead to 64-42. Carroll point guard Emilie Wizner was their next leading scorer with 12 points and also led the Pios with 5 assists.
The Vikings will play their next game at home as well, when they play host to Wheaton College on Saturday, February 14th at 7pm.
