CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University women's basketball team fell to Carthage College, 71-54, in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup Saturday afternoon at Carlson Gymnasium.
Carthage established control early, building an 18–9 advantage after the first quarter and extending the margin to 37-18 by halftime. The Firebirds maintained their lead throughout the second half, matching North Park point-for-point in the final quarter to secure the road victory.
North Park showed resilience in the third period, outscoring Carthage 20-18 behind improved offensive efficiency and transition play, but the early deficit proved difficult to overcome. The Vikings finished the game shooting 38.8 percent from the field and were led offensively by junior guard Aliyah Hershberger.
Carthage shot 44.3 percent from the floor and was balanced offensively, placing four players in double figures or near double figures while capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and points in the paint.
With the result, North Park moves to 515 overall and 110 in CCIW play, while Carthage improves to 109 overall and 46 in conference action.
