Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Karlsson's second-half strike puts North Park Women's Soccer back in win column

CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Women's Soccer got back in the win column on Wednesday night, thanks to a second-half strike from freshman defender Tilda Karlsson. The Vikings beat the St. Norbert College Green Knights (0-5) 1-0 under the lights of the Holmgren Athletic Complex.

North Park would hold the clear advantage at midfielder through the first half of play, carrying the ball through both sides of the field to look for open opportunities. The Vikings had a dozen shots in the first half, but most were blocked by the Green Knight defense or pushed off frame as the first half drew, 0-0.

However, in the second half, senior midfielder Stine Lie would dis-possess the Green Knights in the forward third before moving a pass to Karlsson outside of the box. A quick angle change on a back-and-forth from Karlsson to junior midfielder Caroline Sjøstedt allowed Karlsson to get a better angle before right-footing a shot just under the crossbar for the first goal of her collegiate career in the 54th minute.

North Park would keep the shutout intact through the next 47 minutes, claiming its first shutout win of the season.

Sjøstedt had three shots on goal in the match while Lie and Karlsson added two each. In goal, senior Paige MacRitchie saved all five shots that made it her way, including a few big-time saves in the second half for her first shutout of 2025.
