CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park Women's Soccer made the short drive to Stuart Field in a Sunday afternoon match at No. 22-ranked Illinois Institute of Technology. The Vikings suffered a 3-0 loss to the potent offense of the Scarlet Hawks.
IIT took control in the opening minute as shots by Kayla Smith and Eva Navarte were both batted away by senior goalkeeper Paige MacRitchie. The Scarlet Hawks also enjoyed a pair of corner kicks within the opening minute before Smith broke through in the third minute on a goal inside the left post. Smith added another goal in the 21st minute while Grace Yager added the nail in the 59th minute.
The Vikings' lone shot on frame nearly snuck through when a long lob off the foot of senior midfielder Stine Lie was punched off the crossbar by IIT keeper Katia Blatnik, who preserved the clean sheet for IIT.
For North Park, MacRitchie tied a program record for saves in a match with 15, equaling Emily LaSalle's total against North Central in 2021.
