WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The North Park Vikings capped off a tremendous Florida trip with two dominant wins over the Husson University Eagles and Beloit College Buccaneers, bringing their win streak to four after wins in similar fashion on Thursday.
Game One Recap: Vikings 9, Eagles 8
The Eagles Jumped out ahead with four runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI ground out, an RBI double, and a 2 RBI single. They would follow it up again in the second with another RBI single to right.
The Vikings would answer in the third, starting with a one out home run by Junior Katie Patton, her first of the year. A walk to Shortstop Kayla Lorenz and back-to-back singles by Kathryn Keehn and Maddie Tan would load the bases with only one out for Junior Sydney Snyder. Snyder would continue the hit train with a single up the middle, moving everyone up one base and plating Lorenz. Salyssa Garcia would add on another, reaching on a fielding error by the pitcher which scored Keehn.
The Vikings would go on to tie it in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Keehn, who later scored on a dropped third strike to Snyder who reached on the passed ball.
North Park would go on to score four more runs in the fifth to take the lead. After a walk to LilyAnn Lutz, a single by Kayla Sapolu and a hit by pitch to Patton, an RBI walk to Lorenz would break the tie and put the Vikings on top 6-5. A single from Tan would plate Sapolu and Freshman Keera Trautvetter, followed by a single by Snyder to plate Lorenz, bringing the score to 9-5.
The Eagles would attempt a comeback in the top of the 7th thanks to a pair of errors and a 2 RBI double, but would ultimately fall short bringing the final score to 9-8.
Game Two Recap: Vikings 10, Buccaneers 4.
Freshman Katelyn Meyer would get the start for the Vikings, tossing her first complete game of her career, allowing only 3 earned runs while racking up 3 strikeouts and no walks.
The Vikings would plate at least one in every inning except for the 7th, thanks to 3 hit games from Senior Maddie Tan, Junior Kayla Lorenz, and Sophomore Salyssa Garcia. 8 out of 9 Viking starters recorded a hit, including 5 multi-hit games.
The Vikings trailed at no point during the game and only struck out twice during the matchup.

The Vikings will return to Illinois to face Benedictine University on Tuesday, March 18th in a non-conference double header, with first pitch at 3:00 for game one. The Vikings home opener is set for Saturday, March 22nd in a doubleheader against the Loras College Duhawks.
