SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. -- North Park Women's Tennis opened their spring season with a 6-1 win over the Loras Duhawks on Saturday night.
There was no struggle for North Park in doubles play, despite three new doubles pairing for the Vikings to open the season. Alexandra Ristfeldt and Alexandra Pugachova won 6-1 in the #1 slot, Maddie Starr and Katja Carlberg swept #2 with a 6-0, and #3 doubles of Emilia Sand and Thea Gifvars secured the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win.
In singles, #1 Ristfeldt earned a pair of 6-2 wins while Carlberg won 6-1, 6-4 in the second slot. Pugachova was nearly flawless with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in #3 singles. Starr fought a close match and secured another singles win, 7-5, 6-4 and Gifvars did the same at #5, 6-4, 6-2. Felicia Sunden fought well in her first official match of the season. She won set one, 6-1 but her opponent, Alexis Tatum, struck back in the second set with a 7-5 win. Tatum would secure the tie breaker but North Park still enjoyed the 6-1 spring season-opening triumph.

North Park (1-0) will play three matches in Orlando, Florida, beginning with Otterbein University on Sunday, March 9.
