ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The North Park Women's Basketball team fell in a battle of the Vikings at Augustana College on Wednesday night.
Augie raced out to a 34-7 lead thanks to constant pressure and forced passes in the first half. Augie tallied eight steals and four blocked shots in the first 20 minutes, as North Park coughed the ball up 18 times. The Rock Island Vikings had a pair of players in double figures - Audrey Erickson with 13 and Cali Papez with 11. For North Park, fifth-year guard Evelyn Abundes had six points and four rebounds.
North Park had a big burst in the third quarter, scoring 19 points, but Augustana matched that and then some with 20.
In total, Augustana generated 42 points in the paint, including 20 in the first quarter alone., and added 25 points off turnovers.
Sophomore guard Aliyah Hershberger was the only player from North Park who scored in double figures, posting 13 in the 72-49 loss. She added three steals and Abundes had six blocked shots.

North Park (3-17, 0-12 CCIW) will head to Naperville on Saturday, Feb. 8, for a game against the North Central Cardinals (8-13, 4-8). Tipoff at Gregory Arena is set for 2:00 PM CT.
