CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Women's Basketball concluded their 2024-25 season at home on Wednesday night, falling to the Carroll Pioneers 97-51.
The Pios built a 31-19 lead thanks to some fastbreak opportunities and open passes under the hoop, using the two-point shots to stay ahead of North Park. However, a layup by sophomore forward Caroline Long and three pointer on the wing by freshman guard Naomi Kaskavitch closed the gap to single digits - 33-24 Carroll. However, the Pioneers were able to take advantage of some offensive rebounds and free shots from the line, extending their lead to 42-24 at halftime.
Carroll's Oliva Rangel led all scorers with 15 points on 7-11 shooting while Katie Barger added four steals for the Pios. North Park's Caroline Long managed a team-leading 10 points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals all in the first half while junior guard Kathryn Keehn had eight points, was 2-2 from deep, and added three rebounds.
The Pioneers piled on in the second half, scoring 55 points while limiting North Park to just 27.
Long ended as the leading scorer and rebounder for North Park with 14 and five, respectively. Carroll's Rangel had 23 as three other Pios joined her in double figures.
This concludes the 2024-25 season for North Park Women's Basketball. Special thanks to Evelyn Abundes and Oliva Reed for their time in a Viking uniform and their commitment to NPU.
