CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Men's Volleyball hosted their home opener against the Lakeland Muskies on Tuesday night falling in straight sets (27-25, 26-24, 25-21).
The Vikings had moments in their home-opening match but fell victim to 15 service errors.
North Park recorded six blocks in the match, including a pair of solos from senior outside hitter Ty Ingrao. Junior middle blocker Jonah Johnsamson led NPU with nine kills, tying a career high, while senior middle blocker Sam Robinson followed with seven.
Lakeland's Elie Weinrich led all players with 10 kills and Jakob Donohue had a pair of solo blocks.
In the third set, North Park showed some gusto, breaking down a 5-1 deficit and 19-11 deficit to keep themselves from going away easy. In that 19-11 scenario, the Vikings took 10 of the next 12 points thanks to kills by Ingaro, sophomore outside hitter Gerald Malana, sophomore Braedon Lenon, and aces by Ingrao and freshman Kenneth Ervin, Jr. Unfortunately, a kill by the Muskies' Sage Xiong and three NPU errors ended the evening as the Muskies took a straight-sets victory.
