WAVERLY, Iowa -- The North Park Men's Soccer team settled for their third draw of the season on Sunday evening against Wartburg. The Vikings put six shots on goal compared to the Knights, but a scoreless tie would take place at Salzwedel Field.
Early in the first half, Wartburg sent in a few off-target shots through the first minutes, but nothing made it to freshman goalkeeper Ludvig Almborg. Almborg kept the match scoreless late in the second half, saving consecutive shots on goal in the 39th minute and then again in the 41st. The lone threatening shot for NPU in the first 45 was sent off the foot of junior forward Angel Arismendiz, saved by Wartburg keeper Henry Eckert.
The second half would play out the same as the first - a scoreless 45 - but the action was different. This time, junior defender Hugo Neborg put the first shot on frame in the 49th minute as the Vikings' defense did not allow a ball to get to Almborg the entire half.
North Park's final opportunity arrived in the 87th minute when fifth-year midfielder Jostein Blindheim bounced a shot saved off of Eckert. NPU had a corner kick chance after that, but the Knights defended the ball out, settling for the scoreless tie.
