Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lone goal by Sjøstedt not enough in Scarlet Hawks' win

CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park Women's Soccer came up short in a 3-1 loss to a fast-paced Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks squad on Wednesday night.

The first half of actions saw 13 shots by Illinois Tech against three for the Vikings, but the score would remain scoreless. That tie would break in the 43rd minute when a foul in the box allowed IIT's Amelia Moseman to score the high-percentage goal at 42:15.

After halftime, the Scarlet Hawks tacked on two more in the 48th minute on Caitie Chismarich's score before a 22-yard free kick goal by Lucy Jorjorian put non-conference foe up 3-0.

North Park's shining moment of the evening arrived as the clock was ticking down. Sophomore forward Caroline Sjøstedt, who was taking aim from long distance for most of the match, connected on a 25-yard strike into the left side of the net, off an assist from sophomore midfielder Stine Lie, for the lone NPU goal of the evening.
