PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- North Park Softball dropped a pair of non-conference games to Trinity Christian College on Saturday afternoon, 8-3 and 3-2 (8 Inn.).
Game 1: Trinity Christian 8, North Park 3
In game one, the Vikings cracked five extra-base hits. Sophomore outfielder Kayla Sapolu accounted for two while sophomores Kayla Lorenz, Sydney Snyder, and Katie Patton all added one. Free passes and errors would account for a good chunk of the blame in the loss, as the Trolls drew six walks and took advantage of four Viking errors.
Sapolu and Patton led NPU with 2-for-4 games while Trinity's Sartoris was 3-for-5 with a pair of stolen bases.
Game 2: Trinity Christian 3, North Park 2 (8 Inn.)
In her first official collegiate start, freshman Gabby Gonzalez-Villegas tossed a very solid seven innings. The right hander scattered eight hits and three earned in a hard-luck loss, as the Trolls drove a walkoff homer in the top of the eighth.
Each Viking hitter managed just one hit or less, as Patton's double was the only NPU knock that went for extra bases.
North Park (4-12) finally looks to CCIW play on Tuesday, April 9, with a home doubleheader against Carthage. First pitch at Holmgren is set for 3:00 PM.
