CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park men's volleyball concluded their season at home on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Illinois Wesleyan Titans 3-1 (23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 20-25). North Park set new blocking records in the loss; sophomore pin hitter Pablo Ocasio accounted for 10 while the Vikings, as a team, stuffed 17 attacks, both new all-time records.
The story of the match was both sides' blocking capabilities. Ocasio's 10 sets a new single-match record at North Park, surpassing Nathan Nguyen's record of 9 at Goshen back in 2019. Junior middle blocker Sam Robinson also had 9 blocks while senior middle blocker Payne added 4.
On the Titans' side, Javier Romano had 6 blocks, Alec Mucha had 5, and Michael Eastman was credited with 5.
Junior outside hitter Ty Ingrao lead all players with 15 kills, Eastman had 14, and Ocasioo added a dozen.
Ocasio set new career highs in digs (17), blocks (10), solo blocks (2) and block assists (8) in the win.
This concludes the 2024 season for the Vikings, as the program looks to improve on an 8-20, 1-9 record in 2024. Thank you to seniors Christian Ayar, Walter Berthold, Teddy Gedville, Ikenna Nkuku, Kaleb Patrick, and Parker Payne for their time and commitment to North Park and the NPU men's volleyball team.
