KENOSHA, Wis. -- North Park men's volleyball was swept inside Tarble Arena on Wednesday night by nationally-ranked No. 10 Carthage College (22-25, 16-25, 17-25).
North Park jumped out to leads in each of the three sets, including 5-2 in the opener. To get there, senior utility player Kaleb Patrick had a kill, senior setter Teddy Gedville aced the Firebirds, and sophomore outside hitter Pablo Ocasio and junior middle blocker Sam Robinson each added kills. However, The Firebirds would tie things up at 5-5.
North Park showed grit by taking a 13-12 lead and played the top-10 team to multiple ties in the first set, including a 22-21 lead after a kill by junior defensive specialist Adrian Cales. Unfortunately, Carthage would take the next four points to steal the set away, 25-22.
The Vikings showed well in the third set with a .346 attacking percentage, 11 kills, and only two errors, but the Firebirds outdid the Vikings. Carthage had an impressive 19 kills and .485 attacking percentage in the final set, making only three errors to secure the sweep.
