MOUNT VERNON, IOWA -- A triple-digit scoring total led the North Park Men's Basketball team to an emphatic win over the Cornell College Rams (8-4) on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings' 106-74 win was highlighted by 22 points from senior guard Davante Robinson, whose six made 3-pointers tied for tenth in program history.
North Park made its first three shots from beyond the arc on darts from Robinson, senior guard Lance Nelson, and senior guard TJ Gardner. This early 13-6 advantage would hold all the way to the final buzzer, as the Vikings turned in plenty of season highs.
Those season highs included points (106), shots made (43), shots attempted (74), threes made (14) and assists (23). The Vikings shot 14-29 from deep, establishing another season high with a 58.1 mark from downtown.
Seven Vikings scored in double dights: Robinson and Nelson led the way with 22 and 13, respectively, while senior guard Preston Bax III, Gardner, sophomore forward DJ Wallace, senior forward Taijon Barry, and junior guard William Bates all had 10. Nelson added three steals and Robinson was 6-of-9 from three.
For the Rams, Jayden Meeker joined Robinson as the top leading scorer with 22, shooting 8-of-11 from the field.
Historical Notes
43 made shots ties for third-best all-time at North Park and the 14 threes made is good for seventh-best in program history. Robinson's six made threes ties for tenth all-time.
