Nationally-ranked Grinnell gives NPU Tennis first loss of the season

CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Women's Tennis suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday morning. The 5-2 loss is nothing to hang their head about, though, as their opponent, Grinnell College, participated in the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament this past spring.

North Park picked up one doubles win at the #3 position, as Alexandra Pugachova and Maddie Starr topped their opponent, 6-1.

In singles play, #2 player Alexandra Ristfeldt won her match 6-3, 7-6 while Starr moved to 9-0 in singles play this fall season with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 victory.

Katja Carlberg in the third slot and Pugachova in the fifth slot both forced three sets, but came up short.


What's Next?

North Park (8-1) plays in its final match of the season this coming Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 4:00 PM CT. The match at COD Tennis Courts in Glen Ellyn, Illinois will be against North Central College. Already guaranteed a share of the CCIW gold, a win over the Cardinals would give the Vikings an outright title.
