Vikings Volleyball stands tall in home opener, sweep Regents

Kaleb Patrick, in a new role, posts career high assists total

CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park men's volleyball team made short work of the Rockford Regents in their home opener on Friday, taking the non-conference match in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-16).

North Park took some time to get their feet under them in the opener, trailing the Regents for the majority of the first set. The Vikings posted a .200 hitting percentage in the set with eight errors, managing a match-high 17 kills in the opener, and would only improve from there.

Junior outside hitter Ty Ingrao led the charge as the only player to reach a double-digit kills total with 11, alongside, a .476 hitting percentage, while junior outside Vicente Cabrera followed with nine. For the defense, junior middle blocker Sam Robinson had five blocks while junior setter Liam Miller set the action up with 19 assists. No one reached double-digit dig totals in this offense-first match, but both Ingrao and junior libero Adrian Cales had nine digs. Additionally, senior libero Kaleb Patrick was all over the court, supplying six digs and a career high 15 assists.

In each set, North Park improved on its hitting percentage; .200 in the first, .263 in the second, and .333 in the third.

North Park (2-3) has a week off before continuing a three-match homestand, next against Edgewood Friday, Feb. 2. First serve in Chicago is set for 7:00 PM.
