NASHVILLE, TN. -- North Park men's basketball has extended their win streak to three games, as the Vikings defeated Central College behind the sure scoring of junior guard Kolden Vanlandingham, 88-76.
The Vikings and the Dutch exchanged the lead throughout the first 9 minutes of the contest, until a three-pointer by senior Shamar Pumphrey gave North Park an eight-point cushion with under eight minutes remaining in the half.
From that point on, the Vikings would control the game. North Park saw 11 different players score points in the first half, as the Vikings led 41-33 at the break.
The second half showcased the electrifying scoring abilities of Vanlandingham. After scoring just 5 points in the first half, Vanlandingham erupted for 22 in the second stanza. He became the 9th Viking in program history with 7 threes in a game, en route to his big performance.
The Vikings eight-point halftime lead ballooned up to 12 in what seemed like seconds, as Vanlandingham connected on three-point shots on three consecutive North Park possessions.
Vanlandingham wasn't the only Viking connecting from deep, as the team shot 51.5% (17-33) from downtown in the contest. North Park also shot a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line.
Central College standout Joshua Van Gorp kept the contest from getting out of hand with his efficient scoring and rebounding, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings coasted to a 12-point victory.
