ELMHURST, Ill. -- In its fifth-straight win of the season, the North Park women's tennis team shut out the Elmhurst University Bluejays, 9-0.
Despite #1 player Teodora Kraljevic out with an injury, shifting pairings around, the Vikings started out strong with three doubles wins.#2 doubles of Carla Cazes and Olivia De Luca took a commanding lead with strong serves and active net play.
In Singles, the Vikings took an early lead in all but one of the 6 singles matchups. Only at #1 singles, did the Vikings have trouble fending off a consistent and swiftly-moving opponent.
Cazes found her groove in the 2nd set, using a wide range of shots from topspin forehands, slice backhands, drop shots and lobs. It was too much for the Elmhurst player, and Cazes won the 2nd set and 3rd set tiebreaker.
#2 singles Hanna Zethreus continues her undefeated season in both doubles and singles.
The Vikings face their tallest task of the season on Saturday, September 24, when they travel to face defending conference champion North Central College.
