BELOIT, Wis. – The North Park men's soccer team utilized a three-goal second half to earn a season-opening shutout win over the Beloit College Buccaneers on Thursday afternoon, 3-0.
Always known for their defense, the Vikings had no problems keeping the Bucs at bay in the opening half, allowing only a single shot in 45 minutes. However, despite 13 shots (including six on frame) the Vikings entered halftime with a scoreless tie.
Viking newcomers Jakob Wennerqvist and Frans Dao teamed up to give the Vikings their first goal of the game in the 79th minute when Dao found Wennerqvist for the first score of his career.
Minutes later, in the 84th, returner Isak Flo contributed to fellow returner Tobias Lunde's goal and the duo flipped roles in the 89th minute to give the Vikings a three-goal lead.
Not allowing a single shot, while sending 19 of their own in, North Park earned a dominant, season-opening win, 3-0.
