Vikings Blank Two Foes for Another Undefeated Day

Feazelle and Patrick pitch shutouts, while Malicki hits two dingers

CLERMONT, Fl. – The North Park softball team grew their winning streak to four Tuesday evening with a 6-0 win over Millsaps College before beating Edgewood College to the tune of 3-0 during the nightcap.

It was the second day in a row that the Vikings got off to a hot start in the first inning of game one, this time with a four-spot put up in the opening frame before the Majors even got a chance to bat. Not grabbing enough RBIs yesterday, Alyssa Aragon brought home the first run of the contest on a double that scored Caitlyn Webb to make it 1-0. Alyssa Malicki brought home two more when she reached on an error, before an Alli Patrick RBI single made it 4-0. Malicki struck again in the third when she smashed a two-run homer over the left field to make it a six run edge for the Vikes.

The stingy North Park defense backed up Rachael Feazelle who was dominant for the entire seven innings, allowing no runs on seven hits and one walk, while striking out seven Majors. It was the first win of the year for the 2021 All-CCIW selection.

Final: North Park 6, Millsaps 0

From the veteran in the circle, to the rookie as freshman Alli Patrick made her first start in the blue and yellow in game two against Edgewood and passed with flying colors. Patrick would pitch the complete game shutout allowing seven hits, no walks, and striking out six Eagles to gain her first collegiate win.

The offense was a tad harder to come by in game two, but Malicki wasn't done hitting long balls as she struck again with a solo slam in the second. Two innings later, Patrick helped her own cause with an RBI double to score Feazelle, and two innings after that Dillen Eagle became the only Eagle in the contest to bring in a run when she pushed home Malicki on a sac fly. The three-run buffer would be all the Vikings needed to defeat the Eagles from Edgewood College.

Final: North Park 3, Edgewood 0
