BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The North Park women's basketball team wasn't able to down the Illinois Wesleyan Titans Wednesday night, falling by a score of 81-60.
The Vikings trailed early, down five with 5:38 left in the first. A run that involved a bucket by Lauren McKnight and two from Jayla Johnson had North Park pull back in front by one. Two Titan free throws were then answered by a Lauren Lee shot that pulled NPU back up one. The defense locked down IWU, not allowed a basket in the final five minutes of the quarter, and when a buzzer beater was sunk by Johnson to end the frame, North Park had a 16-11 lead.
IWU unleashed a fury on both sides of the court in the second, outscoring the Vikings to the tune of 23-8. From there, NPU could never really recover, and the Titans over doubled their lead in the second half to end up winning the game by 21.
