WAUWATOSA, Wis. – After almost a week away from intercollegiate competition, the North Park University men's volleyball team completely overpowered the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in a straight-set win on Friday night (25-14, 25-13, 25-13).
Despite the eventual wide margin of victory, North Park and Wisconsin Lutheran initially played a tightly contested first set of the night. The Vikings led, 13-11, before kills by Kaleb Patrick, Vicente Cabrera, Aaron Fajardo, Erik Bullard, and Quinn Robinson gave them an 18-13 lead. Next, a few Warrior errors and kills by Fajardo, Quinn Robinson brought the Vikings closer to the end of the first set. Three service aces by Erik Bullard capped the seven-point scoring streak, as North Park earned an emphatic 25-13 opening set win.
Things only got better for the Vikings from then on, as Coach Michael Sopocy's squad hit .524 with 14 kills in the second set and a blistering .619 with 15 kills in the final set. Coupled with a stalwart defense that did not allow more than 14 points in any of the three sets, the Vikings earned a quick three-set win over the Warriors.
