DECATUR, Ill. -- The North Park University women's basketball team kept up with the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's top team in Millikin University for the first half before running out of steam in the second; the Vikings dropped the contest 83-57.
An offensive-minded first quarter got things started at the Griswold Center in Decatur as both teams totaled 22 points each in the opening 10 minutes. At one point, Millikin took a 16-11 lead before jumpers and a free throw by Jayla Johnson, and two points each from Josie Summerville and Savanna Childress knotted the score at 22 each.
Millikin began to build momentum in the second quarter, never surrendering their lead, before breaking for halftime with a 38-32 advantage.Â
However, the next 20 minutes were all Big Blue as they outpaced the Vikings 45-25 in the second half.
