WHEATON, Ill. -- North Park Football's 2022 season came to an end this Saturday in a 54-14 loss to #16 Wheaton as the Vikings record goes final at 1-9.
Wheaton opened the game with 6 consecutive scoring drives to earn a 40-0 lead, eventually having their streak snapped by Juan Nieves' blocked field goal attempt as the clock struck 0:00 to end the 1st half.
North Park, held scoreless through three quarters, ramped up in the final frame to the tune of 14 points. A goal-line pass from Matt Eck to A.J. Harris first got the Vikings on the board with 10:40 to go in the game. Juan Nieves again came up with a defensive stop on the following Wheaton drive, this time intercepting a pass from Ben Thorson. With under a minute to go in the 4th, Eck again found Harris on the goal-line to bring the final score to 54-14.
Eck finished the game 24/38 for 152 yards and 2 TDs, with Harris as his leading receiver recording 44 yards and 2 TDs on 4 catches. Marcel Love led the Vikings on the ground with 43 yards. Defensively, Jaydin Miller paced the team with 13 total tackles (10 solo) along with 1.5 TFLs. David Wortham also marked 1.5 TFLs including a sack for a loss of 2 yards. Juan Nieves forced the Vikings only turnovers with his interception and blocked kick, adding 9 total tackles and a PBU.
