CHICAGO, Ill. – In a must-win College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Quarterfinals matchup, the third-seeded North Park men's soccer team earned a 5-1 win over six seed Carroll University on Saturday night. The Vikings caught fire in the second half, scoring four goals while totaling 12 shots.

Noel Holm set up the first North Park goal when he moved the ball from 25 yards away from the goal to Frans Dao on the left side of the attacking third. Dao dribbled one time before sending a bender into the bottom-right of the goal for the first score of the game in the 12th minute.

The Pioneers, who were shut out by the Vikings just three days ago, were not ready to go quietly in the playoff match. Solanellas Vilella pierced the Viking defense before passing to Josh Venouziou, who notched the game up with an 18th minute goal.

Through the rest of the half, the Pioneers seemed to hold the advantage, out-shooting the Vikings 8-5, including three shots on goal.

HALFTIME: Tied at 1

North Park's slower start to the playoff game quickly became a thing of the past when a cross sent in by Angel Barriga was punched out by Pio keeper Tyler Hanson. However, with a right-footed tap just inside the box, Isak Flo volleyed the ball right back into the net for a 51st minute goal.

The floodgates opened after that. Christian Vaaland headed Barriga's perfectly-placed corner kick into the left side of the goal in the 54th minute, a turnaround, backwards pass from Michal Dejworek to Flo led to Flo's second goal of the game in the 70th minute, and 11 consecutive passes, including the final two from Flo and Dejworek, allowed Jostein Blindheim to score his first-career goal in the 85th minute.

FINAL: North Park 5, Carroll 1

Quick Hits:

  • Two goals and an assist for Flo
  • Two assists for Dejworek, one each for Holm and Barriga
  • Additional goals by Dao, Vaaland, and Blindheim
  • Five saves in 90 minutes of goalkeeping for Sebastianas Uribe
