ELMHURST, Ill. --Â The women's basketball team went out to the suburbs and beat Elmhurst by a score of 65-58 on Saturday, moving to 6-4 in conference play and 13-5 overall on the season.
The Vikings handled the game from wire-to-wire, never trailing for even a moment. The Blue Jays consistently kept the game in reach however, even getting within 2 in the 4th, but the Vikings starters were too much to handle as they combined for 63 of North Park's 65 points. The lone points off the bench came from Josie Summerville who gave the Vikings 10 solid minutes in her first contest since December 8th against Carthage.
The Vikings operated with a Big 3 in this one with Jayla Johnson, Chantel Hairston, and Esther Miller combining for 47 points. Johnson led the way with a 19-point 12-rebound double-double, chipping in with 2 assists, steals, and blocks without recording a single turnover. Hairston registered a career-high 15 points, while Esther Miller put up 13 points along with 8 boards.Â
What's Next?
Next up for North Park is North Central, who they'll face off with at home on February 2nd at 7:00 P.M. The Vikings sit 1.5 games ahead of the Cardinals in the CCIW standings with the conference tournament on the horizon. Â
