EUREKA, Ill. -- The North Park University men's basketball team defeated Eureka by a score of 81-58 in the non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon.
The offense sputtered out of the gate for the Vikings, as North Park could only muster five points through the opening 10 minutes of play. The team found their footing midway through the 1st half though and quickly flipped the script with a 13-0 run over the next few minutes. Despite the cold start, the Vikings entered halftime with a five point lead at a score of 27-22.
The momentum carried on into the 2nd half. The Vikings were active in transition out of the break and used it to establish a double-digit lead within the half's first five minutes. The 10-point lead quickly turned to 30 after a 24-5 run that started midway through the 2nd half. With the game secured, North Park eased up the defensive pressure and sailed smoothly into a 20+ point victory.
Michael Osborne led both sides in scoring and rebounding, putting up a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Gabe Johnson, Karl Polk, and Jordan Boyd also scored in double figures, while Jalen Boyd secured eight rebounds and led the team with two steals.
