CHICAGO, Ill. – The undefeated start to the season for the North Park women's soccer team is over after a 2-0 loss to Illinois Tech in the Vikings first road game of the season. The Viking offense was shutout for the first time this year after only managing to get off three shots.
The first 45 minutes had freshman goalie Campbelle Hunt standing strong in the spotlight with six saves to keep the Scarlet Hawks from cracking the scoresheet. The Vikings came close in the 17th minute when Clara Wernbo put a shot on target off a corner kick, but the IIT keeper was there to make the stop.
Tech ripped out of the gates in the second half, scoring on a goal only 29 seconds into the frame. Less than a quarter of an hour after that goal, the Scarlet Hawks made it two when Erin James converted a penalty for the home side. The game was mostly played in the middle third for the final half-hour as there was only two shots after the second goal. The game would fizzle out for an IIT victory.
