North Park's Strong First Quarter Not Enough Against WashU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- North Park University football lost a game to the Washington University Bears on Saturday, September 18, by a score of 41-7.

North Park struck first on a 3-yard punch-in by A.J. Harris, set up by a 41-yard pass from QB Matt Eck to Caleb Jones.

With a 7-0 lead, North Park's defense continued to hold down the fort. A forced fumble by Thomas Ainsworth at the goal line stopped the Bears from tying up the score. In the second quarter, WashU had a chance to get an easy three points from the 21-yard line. Jeffery Fisher exploded past the O-Line to register a blocked field goal and keep the shutout going for North Park.

WashU would proceed to score twice late in the second quarter. They didn't look back in the second half and sealed the victory on the back of their defense, who held North Park scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Quick Hits:

  • Carter and Landrau lead the defense with double-digit tackles
  • Fisher with an interception and blocked kick
