ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The North Park women's tennis team had a few strong showings on Friday afternoon, but fell to host Augustana 7-2.
#5 singles Maddie Starr continued her winning streak while Mia McClennan also had a strong showing in #6 singles. The duo is proving to be a real threat in singles competition, utilizing consistent groundstroke game and determination to stay in long points.
"We are excited about how this new team is starting off their season this fall between the opening win against Wisconsin Lutheran to two strong showings against our conference rivals," said head coach Karl Clifton-Soderstrom. "Our biggest challenge going forward is working on our doubles teams and finding the right chemistry among players that are working together for the first time. Singles is playing strong with tight matches at the top of the lineup and solid wins further down our lineup. Overall, we have a depth on our squad that will be great to see develop in the coming months."
The Vikings will play in their first home match of the season this coming Saturday, September 18, against Millikin University.
