Chicago, Ill. – Alyssa Malicki and Racheal Feazelle each had great games in the circle, but the North Park University softball team was blanked in both games against Carthage College, losing 2-0 and 3-0 on Monday evening at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
Game 1
Malicki was rock solid in game one, pitching a perfect game through the first three innings, before the Firebirds were able to get a walk, reach on an error, a single, and a sac-hit was able to get two across the plate and send the Firebirds up 2-0. Ellie Manderfeld was the only Viking to record multiple hits in game one, getting two, while Brigid Early added the other hit for North Park. Malicki held the Firebirds to only two hits, but it wasn't enough as Carthage won 2-0.
Game 2
Feazelle held the Firebirds to only three runs on nine hits in game two, but the Viking bats were again held scoreless by Carthage. Manderfeld, Early, Emily Reczek, and Jessie Fix all recorded hits for NPU, even loading the bases in the top of the seventh, but again they were unable to get a run across falling 3-0.
Quick Hits:
- Feazelle went six innings, three earned runs, two strikeouts, and no walks.
- Malicki went seven innings, one earned run, three strikeouts, and one walk.
- Manderfeld had three hits including a bunt-double, while Early had two hits on the day.
