Chicago, Ill. – Rachael Feazelle blanked the opposition in game one to clinch a 1-0 victory, but the North Park softball team ended up splitting a doubleheader with North Central after losing game two by a score of 7-3.
Game 1
Feazelle went all seven innings in this one only allowing three hits by the Cardinals in the shutout performance. The lone run of the game came in the fourth when Alyssa Malicki looped a triple over the head of the Cardinal left fielder to bring home Caitlyn Webb from first base. Webb finished the game with two hits, the only player for either side to get more than one hit in the pitcher's duel. North Park would win 1-0.
Game 2
North Park struck first in game two when Alyssa Aragon slammed a double to center field that scored Ellie Manderfeld for the hosts to go up 1-0. Aragon later crossed the plate herself on a dropped third strike for NPU to take a 2-0 lead. The score would stay that way until the bottom of the third when the Cardinals set off a 5-0 run over the third and fourth to take a 5-2 lead into the fifth. NPU was able to get a lone run in the top of the fifth when Feazelle's base hit brought home Aragon, but that was it for the Vikings on the scoresheet. They ended up falling 7-3.
