NAPERVILLE, Ill. & WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The North Park University women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to open conference play this past weekend. The Vikings fell to North Central (9-0) on Saturday and Carroll (8-1) on Sunday.

Multi-sport standout Patrycja Miazek prevented a complete shutout, earning 6-3, 6-3 wins in singles action over her Carroll opponent yesterday.  

In #1 doubles action, Miazek and Lisa Viuhkonen had a mid-match surge in a competition that lasted one and a half hours, but Carroll ended up with the win. 

On the two matches, head coach Karl Clifton-Soderstrom said: "We are opening the season against some tough competition in the conference.  We are using some new doubles team combinations which will continue to gain strength in the coming weeks. Between our top returning players, and a couple new recruits, we are looking for a successful next few weeks."

North Park (0-2) returns to action on Wednesday, April 7, when they host Augustana College at 3:30 p.m.
