Bloomington, Ill. – The North Park men's volleyball team continued their best start in team history with a resounding 3-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan Sunday afternoon at the Shirk Center. The Vikings are now 5-0 on the season and have won 13 straight sets.
After the first set was back and forth early, a run of four straight points by the Vikings put North Park in control for most of the rest of the set. The Titans never let NPU get far though, and Illinois Wesleyan was able to knot up the score at 23-23. Thunderous kills by Emmanuel Eugene and Erik Bullard capped off the 25-23 set one victory for NPU. Bullard was dominant in the first set with seven kills for the Vikings.
Quinn Robinson got the Vikings going to start the second set with a kill right off the bat to put the Visitors up 1-0. The Titans exchanged points with the Vikings before three straight points put North Park up 6-3 and in command for the rest of the set. The defense for NPU was clicking on all cylinders as they held the Titans to a 0.125 hitting percentage in the set. Eugene was able to get set point for the Vikings when he poked a kill over the would-be blockers to win the set 25-20.
The Vikings held the lead for most of the third set and found themselves up 20-18 in the late going. Kills by Gedville, Armando Quinones, and Frank Mauigoa had the visitors at match point, but Illinois Wesleyan still refused to go down quietly, evening the score at 24 to extend the match. After some back-and-forth scoring, a kill by Mauigoa gave North Park their seventh attempt at match point, which they finally capitalized on a powerful kill by Quinones that gave NPU the final set by a score of 29-27.

North Park (5-0, 2-0 CCIW) will head back home on Wednesday to take on Augustana College (2-3, 1-1 CCIW) on February 24. That game will start at 6 p.m. at NPU Gymnasium.
