CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park men's basketball team utilized 19 offensive rebounds to earn a 70-66 win over the Buena Vista Beavers on Saturday night.
The Vikings and Beavers stayed within a few points of each other through much of the first half. North Park pulled ahead by a point before a jumper from Adam Bulwa, free throw by Jordan Boyd, and a layup by Michael Osborne marked the widest margin – Vikings 25, Beavers 19.
North Park kept that distance, capped by jumpers from Jalen Boyd and a free throw by Osborne, to maintain a six point lead at halftime, 34-28.
Buena Vista marched ahead in the second half, taking advantage of an offensive lull from North Park. With seven minutes to go in the game, trailing by a point at 54-53, Buena Vista's Jake Thompson buried a go-ahead three pointer to give the Beavers their first second half lead.
However, free throws by Gabe Johnson, a jumper by Jalen Boyd, and three pointer by Osborne gave the Vikings a 64-59 lead before a layup and a free throw by Izaiah Sanders and layup by Bulwa sealed the deal, Vikings 70, Beavers 66.
