CHICAGO, Ill. -- After being named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the week, Juan Nieves has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week as the organization announced Tuesday morning.

Nieves, a freshman defensive back from Carrollton, Georgia, totaled eight tackles (two for a loss), a sack and a pass break up in Saturday's 33-30 win over Carthage. Additionally, Nieves had an interception. His two tackles for loss and sack accounted for a loss of seven yards. Nieves leads the CCIW with three forced fumbles on the season. He has defended seven passes with a pair of interceptions.

Nieves joins running back AJ Harris as the second Viking to receive national attention via the weekly honors.
