CHICAGO -- The North Park University Athletic Department will be suspending its women's varsity and men's club rowing programs indefinitely, due to declining interest among our prospective student-athletes.

Statement from John Born, Assistant Vice President, Director of Athletics and Sport Management:

"I'd like to thank Coach Libby Scarlatos as well as all the current and former North Park rowers for their dedication to the program. As a tuition-driven institution, we must evaluate every sport and club annually. Unfortunately, the interest level in recruiting new student-athlete rowers to North Park has not materialized. We are disappointed that we have to eliminate rowing, however, there are plans in place to add developing sports that will flourish at North Park."
