CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park University men's volleyball team fell to the Loras College Duhawks, 3-1, (16-25, 25-23, 21-25, 22-25) inside the North Park Gym on Friday night.
The Duhawks dominated the first set as the Vikings hit -0.83% and fell, 25-16.
The Vikings and Duhawks kept it close in the second set, but Loras marked 10 of the first 16 points. After North Park tied the set at 16 apiece, they scored four of the next five points to lead Loras 20-17. That stretch was highlighted by a kill from sophomore setter Moises Zavala. After giving up three-straight points to Loras, the Vikings finished the set winning 25-23. The Vikings out hit the Duhawks .250 to .069 in the set.
In the third set, The Duhawks notched six of the first 10 points, making the score 6-4. The Vikings kept the score close for the majority of the third set, but still fell ,25-21.
In the fourth set, Loras kept its foot on the gas tallying seven of the first 11 points to jump out to a 7-4 lead. The Vikings could not close the gap on Loras throughout the fourth set until the Vikings scored four of the last six points. Unfortunately, it proved too little too late as the Duhawks took the fourth set and the match at 25-22.
